European Council
The European Council is an European Union (EU) institution that defines the general direction and priorities of the EU. It deals with complex and sensitive issues that cannot be resolved by individual member states, but does not negotiate or accept EU adoption. Countries are represented by their leaders, most often prime ministers or presidents, who commonly meet at least four times a year at EU summits in Brussels.
