beyond TROJMUN
When visiting Prague, one's first thought might be to visit all the famous landmarks, such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, the st. Vitus Cathedral, however these aren't the only places worth visiting in Prague. There so many places outside Old Town which we think are worth visiting, and are just as much a part of Prague's history and/or cultural identity, and are also a lot cheaper ;).
Troja District
Trojské Gymnázium, the primary venue of TrojMUN, is situated in the cozy neighbourhood of Troja in Prague 7, right by the Moldau (Vltava) River. You can visit the Troja Chateau, a large villa with baroque architecture and beautiful gardens. You can also visit the Prague Zoo, which is only a couple of minutes of travel from Trojské Gymnázium. We also recommend visiting the Botanical Garden, which is walking distance from the zoo, with beautiful orchids & exotic flora in a greenhouse, plus a vineyard & a cafe.
Prague 7
Prague 7 is nestled into the meander of the Vltava River and is home to many well-known attractions. Park Letná is undoubtedly worth a visit – in addition to its pleasant spaces for a walk, Letná also offers a view of a giant, functional metronome which looks out over the city and was built on the plinth where once stood a statue of the former Soviet leader Josef Stalin. For nature lovers we also recommend the Stromovka Park, as it is one of the most important natural landscape parks in Prague, whose history dates back all the way to the 13th century. Stromovka is connected to the exhibition centre Výstaviště, which is used for exhibitions and various cultural events. Prague 7 is also rich in museums, the most interesting of which include the National Technical Museum and the main building of the National Gallery in Prague. Moreover, Prague 7 is full of places offering a nice night out, such as the Mecca Club or SaSaZu.
