The UN Security Council is responsible for maintaining international peace and security. It has 15 members, including five permanent members (the U.S., U.K., Russia, China, and France) with veto power, and 10 non-permanent members elected for two-year terms. The Security Council can authorize military action, impose sanctions, and establish peacekeeping missions to address global conflicts. The UN Security Council holds the most power within the United Nations, as it is the only UN body with the authority to make binding decisions that all member states must follow.

Topic: Achieving stability in Myanmar
The ongoing crisis which has beset the nation of Myanmar since the imposition of the military coup in 2021. The military takeover has led to the eruption of protests, brutal repression of civilians, and widespread violations of human rights. Unable to deal with the internal conflict compounded with the economic collapse, Myanmar is rendered as an outcast dyad of nations, while its bordering states are the ones facing the onslaught of its refugees and illicit business activities. In the Security Council, member states like the US, China, Russia, France and the UK have their own views about the conflict and the steps to be taken towards Myanmar and this hinders reaching an agreement between them. The same countries, within their military coalitions, will have to take into account the historical background of the confrontation, the role of the armed forces in the politics of Myanmar, and whether to use diplomatic, economic, or military measures to pursue the goals set for the countries. The desired end state will be the ability of these countries to come to an agreement, in order to restore order in Myanmar with the least amount of suffering to her peoples and the greater region.
